A passport meeting Schengen rules
A Lithuania file needs a passport issued within the last 10 years, with two blank visa pages and validity extending three months beyond the planned Schengen return.
A practical route for UK residents who need a Lithuania Schengen visa — confirm Lithuania is responsible for the trip, prepare the application and supporting evidence, then submit through the official VFS route.

UK VFS locationsThe current official route lists London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
normal decision periodComplete applications are normally decided within the standard Schengen timetable.
possible extended reviewCertain cases can take up to 45 days under the Visa Code.
Lithuania separates eligibility from jurisdiction: the passport nationality controls the visa requirement, while qualifying UK residence allows the applicant to use the UK VFS route.
British citizens can normally visit Lithuania visa-free for permitted stays up to 90 days in any 180-day Schengen period. Longer stays and residence require a different process.
Visa-required applicants should show genuine UK residence, including digital status evidence where applicable, and meet Lithuania’s stated three-month post-return residence buffer.
Use Lithuania when it is your only or main destination. For equal stays, apply to the country whose external border you cross first; appointment availability does not change competence.

Use lawful UK residence evidence and a UKVI share code where status is digital. Current Embassy guidance asks for UK residence permission valid at least three months beyond the return from the Schengen Area.
Complete Lithuania’s current Schengen form without gaps, then print and sign the application in the places required for submission.
Provide transport and accommodation that make Lithuania the genuine main destination by purpose or length of stay.
Present recent financial records together with the UK work, study, business or sponsorship evidence that best explains your circumstances and ability to fund the Lithuanian stay.
The insurance certificate should cover all Schengen destinations and dates, with at least €30,000 for emergency medical expenses and repatriation.
Arrange the Lithuania documents in the order shown by the live Embassy/VFS list. Reconcile passport details, dates and itinerary across every reservation and supporting record.
Tourism, business, private-visit and family-member categories use different evidence. The Embassy can request additional documents or an interview.
VFS receives the application and biometrics in the UK. The Lithuanian consular authority assesses and decides the case.
Compare all Schengen stays and purposes before choosing Lithuania as the competent state.
Prepare the Lithuanian application form, check it against the supporting file and sign the final printout for the appointment.
Use the Lithuania VFS route for London, Manchester, Edinburgh or Cardiff and check live availability.
Take the complete Lithuania file to the selected VFS centre and provide fingerprints when due; provider extras only change convenience, not the decision.
Share the trip basics and we can help organise the application before the official Lithuania submission.
What you get from this enquiry
No payment is taken with this enquiry. If you want our help, we confirm the fee with you before any work starts.
Do not count the VFS appointment search as part of Lithuania’s consular processing period; the official clock starts later, once the admissible file is received.
Lithuania normally accepts short-stay applications during the six-month window before the intended trip.
The standard Lithuania assessment period is 15 calendar days from receipt of a complete and admissible application.
If the Lithuanian authority requests more evidence or consultation, examination can continue beyond the standard period and reach 45 days.
Official guidance says applications should normally be lodged at least 15 calendar days before travel. Leave extra time for appointment availability, document corrections and passport return; no return date is guaranteed.
Lithuania’s consular fee follows the shared Schengen tariff. VFS adds its own UK handling charge, so review the current pound totals and payment options together.
Applicants claiming a reduction or exemption should carry the exact supporting evidence. Confirm which Lithuania VFS fees remain, how they are paid and the applicable refund position.
Applicants resident in the UK can use the official Lithuania VFS centres in London, Manchester, Edinburgh or Cardiff. Check the live page before travelling.
Lithuania’s UK network currently includes Cardiff as well as London, Manchester and Edinburgh. Confirm address, opening hours, booking category and charges before attendance.
Lithuania’s UK route has details that generic Schengen checklists can miss.
UK residence evidence supports a Lithuania application lodged in Britain, but it cannot replace a visa required by the applicant’s passport.
Apply from the UK only if you are legally resident here. Visitor status normally does not establish the required consular residence connection.
Preparing the application online does not replace the authorised VFS submission, supporting file and biometrics where required.
Lithuania must be responsible for the real itinerary. A convenient London, Manchester, Edinburgh or Cardiff slot does not change destination responsibility.
The normal consular period does not include every day spent waiting for a slot, transferring the file or returning the passport.
Answers about eligibility, VFS appointments, UK residence, fees and timing.
The passport nationality determines visa need. UK residence establishes a submission connection and must meet Lithuania’s validity rules, but does not itself grant visa-free entry.
British citizens can normally visit Lithuania visa-free for permitted short stays within the shared Schengen 90/180 limit.
Use the authorised Lithuania VFS route. Its current UK centre list includes London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
The Embassy recommends applying early but no more than six months before travel. The application should normally be lodged at least 15 days before departure.
The Embassy’s UK guidance asks for residence permission valid at least three months beyond the intended return from the Schengen Area.
Lithuania normally assesses a complete admissible application in 15 days. Further examination can extend to 45 days; VFS appointment availability and passport delivery sit outside that period.
The standard adult short-stay fee is €90 and the fee for children aged 6 to under 12 is €45. VFS and optional-service charges are separate; check live amounts.
Only when Lithuania is genuinely the competent main destination, or the first-entry rule applies to equal stays. Appointment availability alone is not a valid reason.
